Rachel Mochizuki (She/Her)

Marriage & Family Therapy MA | Los Angeles Campus

Hometown: Pasadena, California

My name is Rachel Mochizuki and I am a second-year student in the Marriage and Family Therapy program at Alliant International University. I graduated from UCSB as a Biopsychology major and presented my honors thesis, “How Covid-19 Impacted Visually-Impaired College Students.” I also presented with my colleagues at the Alliant International University CFT Student Conference at Irvine in 2022 on “Empathy and Burnout in Marriage and Family Therapists.” I am passionate about becoming a Marriage and Family Therapist because I have always wanted to support people’s mental and emotional health. I have loved my time at Alliant so far and enjoy making social connections with peers and faculty.

Fun Fact: I love the Lakers!

Research Interests: Collectivistic cultures, eating disorders, Foucaldian philosophy, feminism, empathy burnout.

Favorite part of the program: My favorite part of being part of the MFT program was being able to meet and connect with amazing people in my cohort.

Practicum/Internship site: South Central Training Consortium

Advice to first year students: Start looking into practicum sites early so you know which ones interest you!
