Clinical Psychology PsyD | Sacramento Campus

Hometown: Yuba City, CA
Languages: Punjabi

Hello! My name is Preeti Ghuman, and I am currently a second-year student in the Clinical Psychology PsyD program at the Alliant Sacramento campus. As a first-generation college student, I take great pride in being the first in my family to pursue graduate studies, a journey that has been both challenging and rewarding. As a proud Punjabi Sikh, I am deeply committed to addressing mental health challenges within the Indian community. I believe that cultural barriers can often prevent individuals from seeking the help they need, and I aim to be part of the solution by promoting awareness and understanding of mental health issues.

On campus, I actively engage in various roles that allow me to contribute to our community. I am the Front Desk Student Assistant, Chair of Events for the Advocacy Club, and Secretary for the Student Government Association (SGA). My time on campus has been incredibly fulfilling. I have had the opportunity to connect with diverse individuals, learn from inspiring faculty, and develop my leadership skills. Each experience has contributed to my growth, and I am excited to continue my journey in psychology.

Fun Fact: I am a huge fan of horror movies in all their forms - psychological thrillers, classic slashers, or supernatural chills!

Research Interests: Acculturation, Gender Roles, Attachment Styles, Barriers to seeking mental health services, Indian Mental Health

Favorite part of the program: My favorite part of my program is my professors and campus environment.
