My name is Maya Webb and I am in the Psy.D. Clinical Psychology program at Alliant International University – San Diego with an emphasis in Forensic Psychology. I am 24 years old female (she/her) who enjoys hot yoga, meditation, journaling, and reading. I moved down to San Diego from the East Bay Area after graduating from California State University, Chico in Spring 2021 with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology. My passion is working with adolescents who engage in high-risk behaviors such as non-suicidal self-injury (NSSI), suicidal ideation (SI), homicidal ideation (HI). I aspire to work within the Juvenile Justice System and serve as a voice to those who don’t feel their voices are heard.
Fun Fact: I have dual citizenship in the United States and in the United Kingdom.
Research Interests: Trauma, resilience, juvenile recidivism, harm reduction, intimate partner violence (IPV), attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder, autism spectrum disorder, gender differences, impulsivity, dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT).
Favorite part of the program: The support from professors and students facilitates a positive atmosphere that encourages learning, challenging yourself, and passion towards the field of Psychology.
Practicum/Internship site: Sharp Mesa Vista Hospital - Child and Adolescent Inpatient Unit (CAP3) & Child and Adolescent Assessment Clinic.
Advice to first year students: Flexibility, willingness, humility, and allowing yourself to be open to various opportunities is essential to success within this program. Make sure to always do self-care, even if it means you have to schedule it in your calendar. Find a routine that works best for you and remember to have fun along the way of this journey. ☺
