Mandee Duran (She/Her)

Marriage & Family Therapy MA | Los Angeles Campus

Hometown: Los Angeles, CA

My name is Mandee Duran and I am currently a student at Alliant International University’s LA campus obtaining a master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy. In 2022 I graduated from California State University, Chico with a bachelor’s degree in Child Development and a minor in Psychology. I am a proud, first generation college student. My therapeutic philosophy consists of creating a space for clients where they are allowed to be their authentic selves. I believe in meeting the client where they are at above all else and valuing that our very experiences are what make us unique. A little bit about me, during my free time I enjoy spending quality time with my loved ones, trying new food places, and attending yoga classes!

Fun Fact: In 2021 I went skydiving!

Research Interests: Underrepresented populations; specifically how to support Latinx therapists in the construction of their therapeutic identity, confidence building, and clinical readiness.

Favorite part of the program: The community of committed and caring core faculty which create a culture of learning here at Alliant.

Practicum/Internship site: Counseling Partners of LA and Alliant Couple and Family Clinic

Advice to first year students: You are here for a reason - Do not let your fear of branching out keep you from your growth!
