Kate Massoudi (She/Her)

Clinical PsyD | Fresno Campus

Hometown: La Quinta, California

Hello, my name is Kate Massoudi I’m a first-generation graduate student pursuing a PsyD in Clinical Psychology and am currently enrolled in The Forensic Experience Area. My passion for advocacy and inclusion drives me to help individuals in our academic community feel valued, supported, and empowered. I strive to help people feel like they belong and connect with one another whenever I can.

Fun Fact: I have some interesting answers for "two truths and a lie": I've been skydiving, I have a black belt, and I once co-piloted a two-seater plane. Now, which one's the lie?

Research Interests: Neurodiversity and Substance Abuse in Forensic Populations.

Favorite part of the program: I've really enjoyed exploring the DSM-5-TR in Advanced Psychopathology and learning the fundamentals of Psychotherapy. I'm excited to put what I've learned into practice next semester during practicum. I also appreciate my cohort and professors; everyone is kind, supportive, and willing to help. The overall sense of camaraderie within the program makes it a truly encouraging environment in which to learn and grow.

Advice to first year students: I would remind first-year students that they're here for a reason. It's easy to fall into imposter feelings, but everyone in the program was chosen because they have something valuable to contribute. Give yourself grace as you adjust, and remember that you don't have to know everything right away. Lean on your cohort, ask questions, and stay open to learning. You'll grow so much when you allow yourself to be present and trust that you belong here.
