Julianne Matthews (She/Her)

MA MFT | Irvine Campus

Hometown: Orange, California

Hello! I am a first-year Marriage and Family Therapy master’s student here at Alliant in Irvine. I am enjoying the program immensely and have already learned so much. In my free time, I like to spend time with my friends and family, do pilates, swim, read, and watch Anime and Youtube.

Fun Fact: I have two adorable dogs! Ask me about them, I would LOVE to share and show pictures!

Research Interests: My research interests include trauma-informed therapy and care, mental health of queer and gender-non-conforming people, development and mental health of infants, and children who have experienced trauma in-utero and more!

Advice to first year students: I would recommend this program to anyone interested in the Marriage and Family Therapy field. As a queer student, Alliant's faculty, staff, and my classmates have all made it such a welcoming and safe space to grow both personally and professionally. The advice I would give to a first year student would be: lean on your professors and classmates for support; do not be afraid to ask for clarification or help; do your best to stay organized; and do not forget about self-care. Good luck!
