“Hi everyone!

My name is Jessica, and I’m currently a second-year PsyD student at Alliant International University in San Francisco. I grew up in Salinas, California, and earned my bachelor’s degree in Human Development & Family Science and Psychology from CSU Monterey Bay.

I have hands-on experience working on both the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline and the CA Peer-Run Warm Line, which have deeply shaped my understanding of crisis intervention, emotional support, and the power of compassionate listening.

Currently, I work as an administrative assistant for a private clinical practice specializing in reproductive health and family building. This role has given me a unique behind-the-scenes look at how private practice functions while allowing me to support patients and providers in meaningful ways.

I love stepping into new experiences that challenge me to grow, connect, and give back to the community – both personally and professionally. When I’m not studying or working, you’ll likely find me spending time with friends and family, reading, watching movies, or enjoying the outdoors.

Fun Fact: I am a first generation student!

Research Interests: I'm passionate about health and integrated care psychology, with a strong interest in the psychological impacts of chronic illnesses such as diabetes, lupus, and cancer. I'm also deeply drawn to reproductive health, including the emotional and psychological experiences tied to fertility, family building, and maternal well-being. In addition, I have a strong interest in suicidology-particularly suicide prevention, crisis intervention, and the role of peer support services in reducing mental health distress.

Favorite part of the program: My favorite part of the program has been connecting with the incredible peers I've met along the way, as well as gaining hands-on clinical experience through my practicum sites. It's been deeply rewarding to offer community-based support and grow both personally and professionally within the process.

Advice to first year students: The road ahead may be tough and even difficult at times, but it was never meant to be easy, only meaningful. What feels impossible today is often the very thing that is shaping your strength tomorrow.
