Hometown: South LA, CA
I’m originally from South Central Los Angeles and hold a bachelor’s degree in Political Science and master’s degree in Public Health from Chico State University. My professional background spans government and politics, child protective services with Riverside County DPSS, and most recently, serving as a Family Medicine Residency Administrator at Eisenhower Health. I’m also a proud father who finds joy in spending time with my daughter and watching her grow. I’m pursuing a PsyD to deepen my ability to serve others as a reflective practitioner and to help build inclusive, healing spaces where marginalized and underrepresented communities feel seen, valued, and supported.
Fun Fact: I am a sneaker head.
Research Interests: My research interests center on the justice-involved population, with a focus on understanding the psychological, social, and systemic factors that influence rehabilitation and reintegration.
Favorite part of the program: My favorite part of my program has been meeting all of the students in my cohort and building lifelong friendships with people who share similar goals and passions. The sense of support and community we've created has made the experience both meaningful and motivating. At my current practicum site, BHC Alhambra, my favorite part is working with patients at different levels of functioning and finding individualized ways to help them make progress. Each interaction challenges me to grow as a clinician and deepen my understanding of diverse client needs.
Practicum/Internship site: G1: Telecare (ATLAS/Tabs); G2: BHC Alhambra (Outpatient)
Advice to first year students: I would tell a first-year student to embrace the journey and give themselves grace while adjusting to the demands of graduate school. It's important to stay organized, ask for help when needed, and make use of the resources and support systems that Alliant provides. Most importantly, I'd encourage them to connect with classmates and faculty early on, building relationships and community is key to success both academically and personally.
