Carolina Herrera-Rivera

Hometown: Tulare, CA

Hello, my name is Carolina Gomez. I am currently a student in the MAE School Counseling w/PPS credential program. This is my first year here at Alliant and am very excited to be a part of this amazing program. I received my BA in Liberal Studies from California State University, Fresno in 2023. I have been fortunate to be able to work in the Human Services field for the past decade and am looking forward to using this experience to help our youth as a future school counselor. Also, I am a mother to a wonderful 11-year-old daughter and have a soon to be 7-year-old chihuahua, both of which keep me on my toes at all moments. I look forward to being a student ambassador and being a support to new students!

Fun Fact: I am the second out of four sisters, all of which have names that start with the letter C.

Favorite part of the program: My favorite part of my practicum site is that it is a mixture of in-person classes and independent study. There is so much variety in the way the courses are offered and the student body is made up of a very diverse group of students who are in different levels of their academic journey.

Advice to first year students: Be as involved as you possibly can! You will get to form so many valuable relationships and help build your communication skills.
